Beliefs

Our beliefs are founded and rooted in Scripture and informed by experience, reason, and tradition. Important aspects of our faith include:

Scripture — Scripture contains all things necessary for our faith and is fully reliable.

The Trinity — We believe that there is one God that is infinite in power, wisdom, and goodness and that in the unity of this Godhead there are three persons of one substance, power, and eternity — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ — The Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully human. He was crucified to reconcile us to God and so that we could have forgiveness of our sins. He rose again from the dead bodily and ascended into heaven and remains there until he returns to judge all persons at the last day.

Salvation — The Bible teaches that salvation is by grace through faith. It is a gift given by God to all who put their faith in Christ

The Sacraments — Baptism marks our entry into the household of faith. It is a sign of God's love for us and of our commitment to God. The Lord's Supper is a reminder of God's redemption through Christ and a celebration of His presence with us. In our tradition, the Lord's Table is open to all persons of faith regardless of their denominational affiliation.

Membership — Membership in the United Methodist Church is gained through one of two ways:

 Profession of Faith — If you have never been a member of a church, membership would be attained by publicly professing your faith in Christ and receiving baptism.

 Transfer of Membership — If you are or have been a member of another United Methodist Church or a church of another Christian denomination, membership would be attained simply by a transfer of membership.
